EASTHAMPTON – Gladys Carol (Griffin) McCauley, 74, formerly of Stephentown, N.Y., died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the home of her daughter Kim and son-in-law John O'Connor on Reservation Road in Easthampton, after a period of failing health.

She was born Aug. 6, 1939, in North Adams, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ida Pauline (Summerlin) Griffin. Gladys was raised and educated in the North Adams public schools.

She worked for many years in the health care field as a certified nursing assistant and medical assistant for a medical practice and later worked in the restaurant industry as a waitress before retiring some years ago.

Gladys was married for 19 years to Robert J. McCauley, before his death in 1991 and moved to Easthampton 15 years ago.

Her hobbies were painting, cooking, quilting, crocheting, arts and crafts of all types, and diamond mining in New York. She loved music, especially Christian music, reading the bible and was proud of her faith, of being a born again Christian, but most of all, family was her priority.

She is survived by her extended family, five daughters, Kim and her son-in-law John O'Connor with whom she resided with in Easthampton, Patricia Gonzalez of Chicopee, Anna Torres and her husband Victor of Pittsfield, Jeanette McCauley of Long Island, N.Y., and Cindy Goldsmith of Fort Smith, Ark.; three sons, Benjamin Tuboly of Albany, N.Y., Lewis McCauley and his wife Stephanie of Duanesburg, N.Y., and Aaron McCauley of Pittsfield, 17 cherished grandchildren, Sam O'Connor, Katelyn O'Connor, Tiffany Rivera, Francesca Rivera, Frank Rivera, Victoria Torres, Antonio Torres, Jordan Tuboly, Ilana Tuboly, Matthew McCauley, Michael McCauley, Sara McCauley, Roberta McCauley, Daniel McCauley, Racheal McCauley, Alexis McCauley, and Ryan McCauley; one great-grandson, Holden Rivera Klosek; one sister, Evelyn Griffin of New York; one brother, Fred Griffin of California; her former husband Eduardo Gonzalez of Easthampton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers.

A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, May 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the home of Kim and John O'Connor, 23 Reservation Road, Easthampton. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 9, at 1 p.m. at the Cemetery of the Evergreeens, Cemetery Road, New Lebanon, N.Y.
