CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Jonathan Richard Quick, 72, died peacefully Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in Charlottesville, with his beloved wife by his side.

He was a professor of English Literature for 41 years at the University of Massachusetts Amherst before retiring to Charlottesville.
He leaves his devoted wife of 33 years, Elaine Marie Quick of Charlottesville; his son Benjamin Joseph Quick and wife Julie Lefer Quick of Springfield, Mass.; grandsons Zachary Austin Quick and Hunter Stav Mnich; and niece Robin Verge of Pensacola, Fla., and her sons Colin and Parker Verge.
A memorial service and burial arranged by Douglass Funeral Home, Amherst, Mass., will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Amherst at the convenience of the family.
