NORTHAMPTON - Patricia May (Lucey) Nolan, 89, of Northampton, died peacefully Tuesday, May 20, 2014, with family by her side, two days shy of her 90th birthday.
A city native, she was born May 22, 1924, to James and Louise (Morrissey) Lucey. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church until its closing. Her faith remained a comfort to her throughout her life.
After graduating from St. Michael's High School in 1941, Patricia attended McCarthy's Business School in Northampton. She excelled as a secretary for the Springfield Armory, Northampton Credit Bureau, and Northampton Radiology Associates. She later retired from the Cooley Dickinson Hospital Radiology Department.
She spent several years volunteering as a Girl Scout Leader for the St. Mary's Girl Scout Troop and was an active member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club of St. Michael's School.
Patricia enjoyed a large extended family and all that it entailed. She loved the Red Sox, college basketball (especially Duke), music, Broadway shows and Hampton Beach. She treasured morning coffee at the dining room table watching the birds outside her window. Pitch was a favorite card game during which her family respectfully referred to her as "the shark".
Patricia was predeceased by her husband Robert Nolan in 1991, her son Thomas in 2013, and sisters Ann Riccio, Melissa Davison and Gaye Rogers.
Survivors include children, Denny (Arlene) Nolan of Northampton, Maureen (Bill) Musante of Northampton, Roberta (Fred) Niezgoda of Holyoke, and Christine of South Deerfield; also siblings Jane Wood, Louise Walton, and James Lucey; grandchildren Wendy Noonan, Dawn Lombardi, Molly Ahearn, Nicole Lussier, William Musante and Callie Niezgoda; and great-grandchildren Frances, John and Jack Lussier, Aidan and Jackson Ahearn, John Noonan, James and Natalie Lombardi, and Isabelle and Tallon Salgado.
