On June 22, 1957 she married the love of her life, Bob Finn, with whom she spent 29 happy years until his untimely death in 1986. Joan was the quintessential volunteer, serving on the Northampton Recreation Committee, the Senior Center as a board member and volunteer, the Triad Council, the St. Patrick's Association and was honored as a Marshal, the St. Michael's Alumnae Association, as a Eucharistic minister/greeter/ cleaner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish, and as a Forbes Library Garden Tour volunteer.

Joan leaves her three daughters, Kathy Malynoski and husband Greg, Kim Goggins and husband Michael, Megan Grygorcewicz and husband Michael, and five grandsons, Sean and Robert Goggins, Patrick and Andrew Grygorcewicz, and Ben Malynoski.
