FLORENCE - Patricia Ann ""Pat"" Kopka, 83, of 185 Nonotuck Street, Florence, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at her home.

She was born Oct. 29, 1930, in Northampton, the daughter of the late Havelock and Anne (Patterson) Purseglove. Pat was a lifelong resident of Florence, and was educated in local schools graduating from Northampton High School class of 1948.

She was a lifelong member of the Florence Congregational Church, where she had served on numerous committees, boards and social groups.

Pat was a kindergarten teacher at Hill Institute, retiring in 2006, after 40 years of teaching. Her many interests were quilting, her gardening, bridge and her many friends.

Her husband of 56 years Henry Kopka died in 2005.

She leaves her three daughters, Lynn M. Kopka of Troy, New York, Jayne Wildemore and her husband Jacob of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, and Jill Kopka of South Hadley; her two sisters, Nancy Sawicki of Florence, and Martha Dunham of Vineyard Haven; her brother Havelock Purseglove of Florence; her two grandsons, Jacob and Zachary Wildemore. Pat leaves behind countless loving nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends, all of whom were family to her.

She was predeceased by a sister Helen Pitzer and brother Neale Purseglove.

Calling hours will be Thursday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton. The family invites you to join them Friday at 10:30 a.m. for a Rite of Christian Service directly at the Florence Congregational Church, 130 Pine St., Florence. Burial in Spring Grove Cemetery will be private.
