HADLEY - Antoinette "Alice" Jensen, 95, of Greenleaves Drive., passed away June 30, 2014 at Cooley Dickinson hospital. Born in Hadley, May 26, 1919 she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Banas) Jandzinski.
She graduated from Hopkins Academy. Alice started working at UMass in the bookstore in the 1940s and worked there for over 25 years. She then worked as a teller for the First National Bank of Amherst. Alice retired in 1977 as the secretary to the assistant superintendent of the Amherst School Department.
She was a member of the Cooley Dickinson Hospital Auxiliary and the Hadley Senior Citizens Club.
Alice leaves many nieces and nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her four sisters; Agnes Lesko, Mary Durkee, Josephine Chmura and Nellie Locke.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the First Congregational Church of Hadley with burial at Olde Hadley Cemetery. At Alice's request, all services were private, according to her wishes. The Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton was entrusted with arrangements.
