TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - Anthony J. Szumowski, Sr., 97, of Tarpon Springs, and formerly of Southampton, Massachusetts, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Mease Country Side Hospital in Safety Harbor.

Born in Easthampton, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rosalie (Cicha) Szumowski.

Anthony owned and operated the former E'ton Auto Body in Easthampton, Massachusetts. He was a World War II Veteran serving with the United States Army and was a member of the Easthampton American Legion Dalton LaVallee Post 224.

He was an avid golfer, "BUCK-A-HOLE", to his friends, and played well into his 90s.

Anthony was married to the late Sadie Jane (Badger) Szumowski who passed away in 1996.

He leaves a daughter Marion Soutra of Easthampton, Massachusetts, and three sons, Anthony J. Szumowski, Jr., and his wife Denise, Robert Szumowski, and Thomas Szumowski and his wife Marilyn all of Southampton, Massachusetts; a brother Stanley Szumowski and his wife Vera of Easthampton, Massachusetts; a sister Charlotte Jackson of Florida; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters Helen Dowdy and Sophie Powers.

Funeral services with military honors for Anthony will be held and announced at a later date. The Boucher-O'Brien Funeral Home is handling his arrangements.
