EASTHAMPTON-Jeanne B. Gunsolus, 78, of Easthampton, passed away surrounded by her family on Oct. 3, 2012, at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst.

Jeanne was born Jan. 5, 1934, in New York, N.Y., the daughter of the late Oscar and Jessica (Korytoski) Gunsolus.
She graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital school of Nursing in 1955, attended Simmons College in Boston and earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee.
Jeanne worked for a short time as a substitute teacher in the Easthampton Schools, but the majority of her life's work was as a registered Nurse. She worked for the Northampton Veterans Administration hospital in Leeds, Massachusetts Eye and Ear in Boston and for a local dialysis unit. She also worked for many years caring for the elderly at Loomis House, Holyoke Geriatrics and the Amherst Nursing Home.
Jeanne was well known for her love of animals, especially her beloved Jack Russell Terriers, Sadie & Bailey. She was also an avid reader, loved to travel (especially to Ireland) and was loyal and generous to family, friends and acquaintances.
Besides her late parents, she was predeceased by Margaret (Gunsolus) Bartos, Linda (Lyman) Smith and Dennis Ury III of Chicago.
She leaves many extended family members including Robert & Lois Keefe and family of Florence, Herman & Jean Smith and family and John Archambault of Arizona, Robert & Wendy Martinez and family, Dennis Ury & Jim Siels of New York, Michael Ury of New Hampshire, Katherine (Ury) Steiger of Needham, Jonathan Ury of Eliot, Maine and Meg Bartos and John Lyman of Huntington.
Calling hours at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton will be on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral home service at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Galadima Goni, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity National Cemetery in Hatfield.
