EASTHAMPTON - Vernon M. Comstock, Jr., 65, of Easthampton, was called to everlasting peace on Tuesday Nov. 13, 2012, at the Holyoke Soldier's Home, with the love of his family surrounding him.

He was born July 28, 1947, in Springfield, the son of the late Vernon and Victoria Comstock, and graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1965.
He attended Holyoke Community College, Westfield State College and Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.
Vernon was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving our country as a Sergeant in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam as a Topographic Computing Engineer from 1968-1969.
Vernon was previously employed by the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Officer as well as a Credit Manager for the Western Massachusetts Kidney Center, R.M. Sullivan Transportation and Northern Connecticut Area Commercial Industries.
Vern was former President of Notre Dame-Immaculate Conception PTL and dedicated much of his time volunteering at Immaculate Conception for church activities. He was an avid Red Sox fan, skier and fisherman, but mostly enjoyed spending quality time with his family and vacationing with them in various locations.
Vernon was predeceased by his sisters, Lida Krol, Jean Barrows and Ruth Alsworth, and by his brother, David Block.
Vernon is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 38 years, Cynthia (Reed) Comstock; three daughters, Jennifer Dunn, Melissa Comstock of Rhode Island and Kristen DiYanni and her husband Dominic of New Jersey; five grandchildren, Brittany, Ronnie, Katelyn, Cassidy and Caprice. Vernon also leaves his mother in-law and father in-law, Shirley and William Reed of Holyoke; a brother, Gordon Comstock and his wife Barbara of Indian Orchard; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 33 Adams St., Easthampton.
Burial will follow at St. Jerome Cemetery in Holyoke. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
