HOLYOKE - Yolanda (Yola) DiLuzio Klimoski died peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

Born in Springfield in 1917 to the late Alfonso and Angelina DiLuzio, she lived and worked for most of her adult life in Holyoke.

Yolanda received her pharmacy degree in 1941 from the Western Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. She was the only woman in her class and one of the first women to become a registered pharmacist in the state. Yola and her pharmacist husband, the late Edward Klimoski, who passed away in 1987, owned and operated the Millane Drug Store in Holyoke for many years. She later worked for several other drug stores, and continued to work at her profession well into her 70s.

Recently she moved to Orleans to live with her daughter, Janet.

Yolanda is survived by her children, Richard (Gretchen) of Clifton, Va., Dianne Greaney (John) and Janet Melikan (Dale), both of East Orleans, Donald, Phillip (Sandra) and Daniel (Annemarie Chalifoux), all of Holyoke. She leaves behind six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ines Megliola and numerous generations of nieces and nephews.

Yolanda was a proud and devoted mother, a wonderful homemaker, as well as a consummate professional. She also enjoyed square dancing, line-dancing and cooking the traditional Italian dishes passed down from her mother. She delighted in having a full house for all of the holidays.

While living in Orleans, Yola enjoyed every minute of her time with her new friends and the wonderful staff at the Orleans Council on Aging Senior Day Center.

Funeral services will be held at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., (Route 5), Holyoke, MA on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012. Viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow at the Blessed Sacrament RC Church at 11:30 a.m. Internment will be at nearby St. Jerome Cemetery.
