Born Jan. 20, 1962, in Springfield, Jack attended schools in Chicopee, completed his BSW at Salem State College and his law degree from the Franklin Pierce Law Center at University of New Hampshire School of Law.
After completing law school, Jack resided in Concord, N.H., where he worked as a child advocacy attorney, dedicated to defending the rights of children and parents involved in the New Hampshire Division for Children, Youth and Families.
Before going into private practice, Jack was a supervisor for the Strafford County C.A.S.A. of New Hampshire. Perhaps his career is best summed up in a letter sent to him by a judge in whose court he appeared: "…universally regarded as a terrific lawyer and an even better person… whose kind, sensitive and thoughtful style was a breath of fresh air."
From a young age, Jack was passionate about sports and was an avid basketball player. Jack read voraciously, enjoyed music, was a competitivescrabble player and loved the N.Y.T. crossword puzzle ritual he shared with Linda. Jack was a lover of dogs and his great companion for 17 years was his beloved beagle, Madison.
Jack will be missed by many dear friends and colleagues, his commitment to justice and those in need and his moral compass were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Domingos and Maria Nunes and his brother Manuel Nunes.
In addition to Linda and their dog Mel, Jack is survived by his sisters, Rosa, Irene, Philly and their families.
Funeral arrangements will be private.
Jack will be remembered as someone who did good in the world.
Anyone who would like, may make a donation in his memory to the social justice organization of their choice.
