EASTHAMPTON- Jane Ann (McCarthy) Hill-Messier, 79, of McKinley Avenue passed away peacefully Dec 25, 2012, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, surrounded by her family.

She was born June 8, 1933, in Florence, the daughter of the late Timothy J. and Anna M. (Crabbe) McCarthy.
Jane was educated in the Northampton schools and was a graduate of both the former St. Michael's High School and the former Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, class of 1953. She was employed as a supervising nurse at the former Northampton State Hospital for over 30 years.
Jane was communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church, now the Our Lady of the Valley Parish. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Easthampton, an accomplished artist who loved painting , quilting, and gardening.
Jane was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time on the beach and the occasional round of golf.
Her beloved husband, Homer "Bud" Messier, passed away in 2007 and her loving daughter Deborah Hill-Bidi passed in 2008.
Jane leaves her loving children, Libby Bishop and her fiance, Ned N. Jalbert, of Haydenville and David Hill and his wife, Karen G., of Florence; her son in law, Theophilus M. Bidi of Florence; and her adored grandchildren Matthew D. Bishop and Krista B. Hill.
Jane was the caring sister to Thomas McCarthy of Northampton and Maureen Roberts of Northampton.
She was predeceased by her brothers Timothy J. and Neal J. McCarthy.
A Calling hour will be held Saturday from 9 to 10:30 am at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 17 Clark St., Easthampton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at Our Lady of the Valley Parish on Adams Street, Easthampton. Burial will be private. Memorial gifts can be made to the Hospice and VNA of Cooley Dickinson Hospital, 168 Industrial Dr., Northampton, MA 01060.
