FLORENCE - Ronald A. ""Libby"" Lieberwirth, 59, of Florence, passed away Dec. 27, 2012, at his home.

Ron was a lifelong resident of Florence and attended local schools, graduating from Northampton High School in 1971. He played football and lacrosse while at Hamp High and thoroughly enjoyed his memories with his former teammates.
Ron was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Hancock at the end of the Vietnam war.
He worked for Davey and Asplundh Tree Companies and Rugg Lumber Co., in Hatfield.
Ron enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and Bruins and was a lifelong fan of the New York Football Giants.
The boys used to gather at the Lieberwirth home on Sundays to watch the Giants with Ron's mother, who instilled in Ron her love of the team. He thoroughly enjoyed reveling in the Giant's latest Super Bowl victories at the expense of the New England Patriots.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Hans (Max) and Ilse (Inge) Lieberwirth.
He leaves two cousins, Lisa Lieberwirth Dembkowski of Derby, Kan., and Gretchen Lieberwirth of Greenfield. He also leaves relatives in Germany whom he had the pleasure of visiting in 2004.
Ron will be remembered for his quick wit and creative humor.
Pease and Gay Funeral Home in Northampton is in charge of arrangements. There are no calling hours. A service will be held in the spring.
