AMHERST - Albert C. "Bud" Owen, 93, was called to eternal life Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst.

Born Jan. 7, 1920, in Amherst, he was the son of the late Earl and Velma (Tiffany) Owen.
Bud grew up working on his family's farm logging and delivering milk. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired as a painter from the University of Massachusetts.
Bud enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Earl Owen and Mary Ann Phelon and his grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Owen, Jack, David, Brian, Patrick and Laura Phelon.
Bud was preceded by his loving wife, June Carey Owen and his siblings Helen Bean, Arthur and Lawrence Owen.
Bud's family would like to extend a special thank you to the devoted staff at The Center for Extended Care in Amherst and Dr. Paul Baecher for the compassion they showed Bud and caring for him like a family member for many years.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton.
Funeral services for Bud will be held Monday at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton at 11 a.m. and burial with military honors to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Northampton.
