Andrew Hussie Obituary

EASTHAMPTON - Andrew Francis "Andy" Hussie, 64, of Easthampton, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014, after a long illness.

He was born June 8, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Anne and Edward Hussie. Andy graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in 1967. He married Elizabeth Holliday in 1978, and their two sons were born in 1979 and 1981.

Andy was a journalist for 30 years, working for the Philadelphia Inquirer, The Public Spirit, and The Trentonian. He retired in 2002, to focus on art and color theory.

He was an avid lifelong painter, whose work was heavily influenced by the French Impressionists. Much of his focus was on solving color problems for future generations of artists. After his retirement, he worked with his son to develop this knowledge. He also recently completed a degree in fine arts through Union University of Vermont.

Andy is survived by his sons Andrew Hussie and Byron Hussie, and six siblings, Edward Hussie, Peter Hussie, Barbara Ratner, Marion O'Sullivan, Terence Hussie, and Judith Hussie-Taylor.

Private funeral services for Andrew were held at Hafey Funeral Service in Springfield. www.hafeyfuneralservice.com.
