Philip LaBranche Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Philip A. LaBranche, Jr., of Springfield, tragically passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, in Springfield.

Philip was born Oct. 13, 1948, in Springfield, the son of the late Philip A. LaBranche, Sr., and Rita L. (Clark) LaBranche of Springfield. He was educated in Springfield schools and was a graduate of Springfield High School.

Philip was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Philip was employed at the Gazette printing shop in Easthampton as a binder for many years, retiring in 2009.

Philip was a past commander of the Dalton LaValley American Legion Post 224, member of the Eugene McCarthy VFW Post 3422, and the Western Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans of America One-Eleven. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception, presently our Lady of the Valley Parish in Easthampton.

His beloved wife of 28 years Dorothy "Dottie" A. (Pontbriant) LaBranche passed away in March of 2014. Philip is survived by his daughter Michelle A. Poudrier of Springfield, with whom he lived with, her children Felicia S. and Joshua J. Poudrier; his son Philip A. LaBranche III of Agawam, and his children Amberly, Autumn, Jacobi, Zack and Corrin LaBranche, and Luke Soffen and Zoe Stevenson; his sisters Patricia Teres of Easthampton, and Theresa McGuigan of Springfield; brother Mark LaBranche of Enfield, Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 17 Clark St., Easthampton. A military burial will be rendered Friday at 10 a.m. at the Massachusetts Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA.

Rest easy my friend . . . Life brought you and Dottie and me together . . . the 3-Amigos and we shared fun times along with the sad ones, 1st was your accident that forced an early retirement and then Dottie's passing so suddenly and now your spirit is free to join her again . . . miss you both forever my friends my Amigos my family.
