Claire Newbold Obituary
Claire was the daughter of Edna Mae Murphy and the late Thomas Patrick Murphy of Northampton, Massachusetts. Claire grew up in Northampton, graduating from Northampton High School in 1975. She earned music degrees from The Hartt School in Hartford, and the Yale School of Music in New Haven.
Claire retired in 2007 from the Hartford Symphony after a 28 year career as a trumpeter. After her retirement, she enjoyed knitting, reading, visiting with family, friends and dogs, and rooting for her New England sports teams.
She is survived by her husband Robert Newbold; son Jesse Newbold; mother Edna Murphy; sister Patricia Spencer; brothers Thomas, James and Donald Murphy; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Haven, 89 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473, www.theanimalhaven.com.

When I think of Claire memories of her beloved dogs come to mind. As a fellow New Englander I appreciated her dry New England wit. I always felt welcomed in the home she and Rob made in Wallingford. Sending love to Rob, Jesse, and her siblings and Mom.

To all of Claire's Dear Family,
I have so many fond memories growing up with Claire. She put her best effort into everything she did, from sports to music, she always excelled. She taught, by example, many important lessons that have lasted a lifetime. I will continue to think of her often as a truly amazing person.
