Hazel "Sugar" Duke

Hazel "Sugar" Duke, age 77, of Caneyville, KY passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Highland Health & Rehab in Louisville.

She was born on May 23rd, 1936 in Grayson County, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Mattie Hazelwood. She was a housewife and a homemaker and also a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in Louisville.

Hazel is survived by her husband, Jim Duke of Caneyville; two daughters and their husbands, Kim and Mike Whitehead and Jamie and Scott Harris both of Louisville; one brother, Randall Hazelwood of AZ; four sisters, Jean Brunner of Leitchfield, Patsy Ingram, Catherine Parker and Dolores Logsdon all of Louisville; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. CST at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Hazel's son-in-law, Scott Harris, will be officiating. Burial will be in the Brown Cemetery in Caneyville.

Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Tuesday from 11 a.m. CST until time of service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hazel Duke memorial fund C/O the funeral home.
