James Isaac "Jim" Stumbo, 65 of Varney, WV went home to be with the Lord August 11, 2013 while at his home. He was born January 24, 1948 at Ragland, WV. He was the son of the late Walter and Maude Mahon Stumbo.
Jim was a retired coal miner having worked more than 28 years in the coal industry. He was a longtime member of the Sardis Old Regular Baptist Church. Jim was a simple coal miner who loved the Lord, his wife and his children. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his garden with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Smith Stumbo, son, Jeffrey Isaac (Shannon) Stumbo of Forest Hills, KY, daughters, Jami (Buddy) Maynard of Hatfield, KY, and Jennifer (Michael) Sparks of Williamson, WV.
He also leaves behind, brother, Jesse Crum of Solon, OH, sisters, Helen Varney of Varney, WV, Nellie Justice of Bancroft, MI, Pauline (Homer) Gilman of Owasso, MI, and the late Peggy Browning of Michigan. Special nephew Walter "Mouse" Cooper of Varney, WV and uncle Rush "Doc" Stumbo of Shelby, OH. Grandchildren, Brandon (Delena) Maynard, Chase Maynard, Jacob Maynard, Camron and Jordan Stumbo, Alexis Taylor Stumbo, Carly and Jenna Sparks. 1 Great-grandson, Tanner Maynard.
Funeral services will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home Thursday August 15, 2013 at 1:00pm with Elders Joey Evans and Brian Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY. Visitation will be at the funeral home chapel from 6-9pm Wednesday evening. Friends, Family and Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
