William "Bill" L. Atkins July 7, 1951 – October 4, 2012 William "Bill" L. Atkins of Fruita, Colorado passed away on October 4, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island he was the son of the late Henry L. and Gladys L. Atkins, and was the brother of the late Kevin Atkins. He leaves behind his daughter, Beth Stancliff and two grandchildren of Grand Junction, Colorado; his sister, Donna M. Simon, of North Providence, Rhode Island, along with nieces and nephews. He was the former spouse of Donna (Atkinson) Atkins. He graduated from Tolman High School, class of 1970, in Pawtucket. As a teenager he acquired respectable golf skills by working as a caddy at Pawtucket Country Club where he was also a greenskeeper until he received a degree in Business Administration from Rhode Island College. In 1980 he relocated his family to Fruita, Colorado and worked at Grand Junction Steel as a welder before he accepted a position as General Manager at Hensley Battery and Electric. His passion for hunting, fishing, and target shooting was a great way for him to spend countless hours with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Martin Mortuary.

My deepest condolences to the Atkins' family. I knew Billy from Clews St. He & the Martley twins had a band & played every weekend at the Ten Mile Playground. It's where we learned the Twist, the Swim, & all the latest line
dances. Such wonderful memories that we all cherish to this day...thanks my friend for the memories, you will be remembered in the hearts of many.
RIP Billy "Chet" Atkins
