Charles Dennis Drake

Charles "Denny" Dennis Drake February 24, 1945 – January 20, 2013 Denny went to be with our Lord Sunday, January 20, 2013. He was born to Geneva Hundley and Mickey Drake on February 24, 1945, in Grand Junction, CO. He joined the United States Army when he was 18, and served from 1963 to 1966 in the 65th Engineers. He received an honorable discharge. Denny spent over 40 years as a career truck driver. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bettylou Drake; his four daughters, Lauri (Russ) Bertram of Grand Junction; Mary (Bob) Retherford of Grand Junction; Lana (Todd) Brady of Grand Junction, and Laquesha (Eddie) Boomer of Noble, OK. He is also survived by his brother, Mickey Drake of Grand Junction; his sisters, Mary (Hank) Cruse of Grand Junction; Gertie (Ollie) Hayashi of Grand Junction, and June Rash of Grand Junction. He had 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews, and many friends. Denny had a love of the outdoors and gardening. He loved playing his guitar and singing. His greatest love was his faith in the Lord, his family, and all of his grand babies. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his three brothers, Jimmy, Don and Johnnie Drake. Services will be Monday, January 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the General Assembly Church of the First Born, 3150 B Road, with burial to follow at the Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the General Assembly Church of the First Born.
