Charles R. Neill

Charles R. Neill May 19, 1922 – September 30, 2012 Charles R. Neill, Jr., age 90, of Grand Junction, died September 30, 2012. Mr. Neill was born to Charles and Lelia Neill in Montrose, CO and raised in Hotchkiss. Charlie served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and was discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant Navigator and received the American Service Medal World War II Victory Medal. Charlie graduated from Colorado College with degrees in Business and Geology. Mr. Neill enjoyed his career as a geologist and coal map editor for the USGS and was an accomplished bridge player with his wife, Fern. He is survived by his wife, Fern Neill; stepsons, David Schranck, and Paul (Virginia) Schranck; two grandsons; sister, Anne Stubbs, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Neill. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 1155 N. 4th St., Grand Junction, 81501 or . Cremation has occurred and ashes interred at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Open House at the Neill home on Thursday, October 4 from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m.
