Harold Homer Bruner

Long time business and civic leader Harold Homer Bruner passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at the Veterans Medical Center in Grand Junction, CO. He was 92 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, CO with Jane Dupree officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Cory Cemetery with the Grand Mesa V.F.W
. Post # 9221 presiding.

Harold was born on July 13, 1921, in the Austin, Cory area to Arthur and Martha (Drysdale) Bruner. His grandparents and parents moved to this area in 1897 by covered wagon.
Harold graduated from Delta High School in 1939. He went on to serve his country in the Army in World War II
with the 3rd Infantry division in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy.
Harold married the love of his life, Emma Lou Pollard, on January 30, 1946, in Austin, Colorado. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past January.
He was a farmer and worked for a department store. He went to work at Remington Men Store in Delta where he became part owner and retired after 30 years.
Harold served on the board of directors for the Cottonwood Golf Course, and was a member of the Cottonwood Golf Club and the Deer Creek Golf Club. He was a member of the Delta Chamber of Commerce for 30 years.
Harold enjoyed bowling, farming, playing golf and playing baseball. He lived most of his life in Delta County which he called "God's Country".
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lou Bruner of Grand Junction, CO; a son, Arthur (Sharon) Bruner of Fruita, CO; two daughters, Linda Sperry of Grand Junction, CO, and Robert "Bob" Sperry of Maricopa, AZ and Tonya (Matt) Geerts of Delta, CO; seven grandchildren; 12 and one on the way great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Vern, Ivan, Charles, Hugh, Jack, Merle and Benjamin.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
