Jennie Rose Snow Merriam
March 13, 1925 - December 29, 2013

Jennie Rose Snow Merriam, 88, former resident of Meeker, Colorado, passed away on December 29, 2013, at Family Health West in Fruita, Colorado.
She was born on March 13, 1925, to Newell and Alice Snow in Jensen, Utah. She graduated from Vernal High School in 1943. Jennie had two brothers, Orin Snow, and Merrill Snow.
Jennie married Lorin DeWayne Merriam on February 9, 1944, in Jensen, Utah. Together, with DeWayne's brother, Dick, and his wife, Nyla, they made their way to Meeker, working sheep and introduced the first sheep to the upper White River. In Meeker, they were involved members of the community raising their five children amongst lifetime friends and the comfort of the White River Valley.
Jennie worked in retail sales alongside DeWayne at A. Oldland & Co., and as a dental assistant. She was actively involved with ESA, a community service organization, supporting schools, bands, and athletics. Jennie was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, and canning for her family.
Survivors include Lorin Merriam, and Myrna Gonzales, both of Grand Junction; Margie and Charles McGiboney of Loganville, Georgia; JoAnn and Rocky Pantuso of Grand Junction, and Joe Merriam of Meeker. She treasured 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 2235 Kingston Road, Grand Junction. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Meeker Fire Department, 345 Market St., Meeker, CO 81641. Arrangements are by Martin Mortuary.
