Iola Knuth Obituary

Iola Mae Knuth April 14, 1912 – March 29, 2010 Iola Mae Knuth 98 of Grand Junction and former resident of Paonia, CO passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Larchwood Inn in Grand Junction, CO. Iola Mae Baer was born on April 14, 1912 at Eagle, CO to Edward Henry and Rena Pearl (Yost) Baer. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Eagle, CO graduating from Eagle High School with the class of 1930. Iola married the love of her life Henry Anton Knuth on December 23, 1932 at Glenwood Springs, CO. He preceded her in death. Iola lived in Gypsum, CO from 1942 to 1978. She and Hank then moved to Paonia, CO, where she remained until 2006. She spent the remainder of her life in Grand Junction, CO. She was a member of the Gypsum United Methodist Church and Cedaredge Rebekah Lodge #106. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge since 1944, starting in Gypsum and moving to the Cedaredge Lodge when she became a resident of Paonia. She held numerous stations while active in the Lodge including Past Grand Noble of Lodge #106, Extension and Dem on station Clubs and Van mother in School. Iola enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, outdoors, bingo, crafts and fancy work. She was a noted dressmaker and homemaker. Among survivors is her daughters-in-law, Sandra Ilene Knuth of Collinsville, MS; nephew, Ed Vetter of Durango, CO; two grandchildren, Rick Knuth of Granby, CO; Scott Knuth of Collinsville, MS and four great grandchildren, James and Caleb Knuth of Granby, CO; Kaitlyn and Kathryn Knuth of Collinsville, MS and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Anton Knuth; son, Gary Duane Knuth; three brothers, Cecil, Earl and Mintferd Baer and one sister, Marion Vetter. There will be no services at this time. A memorial service is tentatively planned for late May. Any memorial donations may be made in Iola's name to the charity of your choice.
