Betty Louise Volk August 12, 1925 – October 1, 2012 Betty Louise Volk, 87, passed away quietly at Mesa Manor Nursing Home in Grand Junction, Colorado on October 1, 2012. Betty was born August 12, 1925, in Boulder, Colorado to Daniel Edward and Lulu Berhman Lynch. She attended school in Ft. Collins, Colorado. In 1948, she married Robert L. Casselberry in Ft. Collins. They moved to Delta County in 1953, where they raised their children and where they have remained for the rest of their lives. Together, they managed the Figure 4 Ranch and the Cedaredge Locker Plant until Bob's death in 1978. Betty raised three children while being an active part of the community as a mother, 4-H leader, businesswoman, school board member, and Grand Mesa Cowbelle. She will be remembered for keeping her family organized, her wonderful cooking, and her love of shopping and shoes. Betty later married Dick Carruthers in 1980, and they enjoyed traveling and spent every summer in Alaska until his death in 1992. Betty then married George Volk in 1996, and enjoyed life back on the Figure 4 Ranch and the Volk Ranch near Somerset. Betty is survived by her husband, George Volk; son, Mike Casselberry of Cedaredge, Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Sandy Casselberry of Grand Junction, Colorado; daughter and son-in-law, Kelley and Ed Smith of Soldotna, Alaska; sister, Shirley Hammond; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. No services are planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Alpine Hospice, 2764 Compass Dr. Ste. 110, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
