Donald Gilbert "Mike" Fiscus January 11, 1914 – October 1, 2012 Donald Gilbert "Mike" Fiscus died October 1, 2012. He was born January 11, 1914, to Lemert and Maroah Jane (Jordan) Fiscus in Alma, Nebraska. When Mike first met Lois Arlene Felker, they were in grade school. They knew they were meant to be together. Lois and Mike were married in Grand Junction, Colorado, on September 24, 1938. Over their 74 years together, they shared their home with Lois' mother, Lucy Felker and welcomed four children into their lives. Mike was employed by Kuner Empson Canning Company for many years. He later worked for the Fruita Co-op. He and Lois enjoyed traveling, camping in the mountains and spending time in Apache Junction, Arizona. His greatest pride and joy were his family. Over the years, Mike was "Dad" to a number of neighborhood children. Mike is survived by his four children, Don (Gayle) Fiscus; Marilyn Petek; Raymond Fiscus, and Jane Rarick. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 5, 2012, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary at 10:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mike requested that donations be given in his memory to Hospice & Palliative Care, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506 or to the Strobl/Fiscus Scholarship Endowment Fund, c/o Jeff Doyle, Colorado Mesa University, 1100 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81501.
