Irene Caylor Brice passed away at the age of 92, on January 13, 2014, at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, CO.
She was born on October 12, 1921, in Goose Creek, Texas and was one of five children born to Norman Wallace and Malinde Louise Johnson Caylor. Irene married Glenn "GC" Brice on November 1, 1938. They were married 66 years at the time of Glenn's death on April 15, 2005.
The couple moved from Texas to Uravan, CO in 1954. Glenn's work required the family to move several times living in Uravan and Rifle, CO; Greenfield, CA; and Hot Springs, Arkansas. They retired in Redvale, CO where they lived for 26 years before moving to Naturita, CO in 2003. Irene had been at the Retreat at Harbor Cove Assisted Living Center in Grand Junction for the past seven years. She considered it her home and always assured us that she was where she needed to be and that they were good to her.
Irene was a member of the Hawthorne Park Community Church.
Irene was a homemaker and always made home wherever they were sent. Her specialty, that all of the family enjoyed, was her cooking. She loved music, dancing and camping when young. Being quite artistic, sketching with a tablet and pencil was one of her hidden talents. She was always eager to have the little ones visit.
Irene is survived by her children, Butch (Mity) Brice of Blanding, UT; Glenn (Judy) Brice of Grand Junction, CO; Nancy Garren of New Hampshire; son-in-law, Jay Crabtree of Grand Junction, CO; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by daughter, Selena Crabtree; grandson, Shawn Crabtree, and great-granddaughter, Caylor Bird.
A Family Memorial will be held at a later date.
