Kurt R. Walters January 21, 1962 – December 29, 2012 Kurt Walters passed into a better place on Saturday, December 29, doing what he loved most in this world ... fishing. Kurt was "a man's man", but a gentle giant. He was a strong, physically imposing man, who undertook every project with quiet certainty, professional skill, and steadfast good humor. He was as comfortable and happy teaching a skittish "newbie" how to catch and clean fish as he was competing successfully against his peers in professional bass fishing tournaments. Kurt was a champion among champions. To know Kurt was to admire him for his skill, respect him for his passion and love him for his kindness. Kurt was born on January 21, 1962, in Oconomowoc, WI. He moved to Colorado as a teenager, but "home" for Kurt was the outdoors. When Kurt was not engaged in his accomplished fishing pursuits, he would most likely be found hunting or otherwise enjoying God's great planet. Kurt will be sorely missed by his wife of 30 years, Laurel. Kurt is also survived by brothers, Matt (Keleigh) and Rex (Julia) and several nephews and nieces; by his best friend, Bill Brown, and by his Junior Partner, Dominic. Kurt was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Mesa County Partners, 1169 Colorado Ave, Grand Junction, CO 81501 or the Wounded Warrier Project, woundedwarriorproject.org. Services will be held on Thursday, at 1:00 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 3940 27 1/2 Rd, Grand Junction, CO. Arrangements through Callahan-Edfast. Sleep well, Wally Burt .
