Renée Lee Schneider March 30, 1929 – June 28, 2011 Renée Lee Schneider, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 28, 2011, after living gracefully with the challenges of a prolonged illness (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). She was born on March 30, 1929, in Cedar City, Utah, to Rulon and Romola Lee. She spent her early years in Panaca, Nevada, with her brother and sister, Kent and Karen. As a young girl, she loved riding her horse, even to school. By experiencing the love of a close-knit family, caring for others became a way of life for Renée. She married the love of her life, Lou Ellsworth Schneider, on September 23, 1955, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She received a business degree from Southern Utah University. Her professional career was as an Executive Assistant in several different businesses. She also served as president of a chapter of the Navy Wives Club. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was a youth leader, beloved teacher, president of a women's auxiliary, and music director. Her love of music started early in life, with her mother playing piano for silent movies, and her aunts and uncles playing in dance bands. Renée sang semi-professionally in several Sweet Adeline groups. Renée's passion for music also allowed her to coax many a timid person into joining choirs that she directed-where accomplished as well as apprehensive singers all flourished under Renée's nurturing direction. She is survived by her husband of 56 years; her brother, Kent Lee and sister, Karen Sant; children, Lou and his wife, Carol; Brent and his partner, Kim; Craig and his wife, Jane; grandchildren, Ginny, James, Leanne, Laura, Ryan, Austin, Catherine and Sam; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. The family members thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, Columbine Caregivers, and extend a special thanks to Stacy Sandoval for the friendship, kindness and care she provided. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at the LDS chapel at 3076 E 1/2 Road, Grand Junction, Colorado. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
