December 14, 1917 - April 1, 2014
Our Mother went to her eternal rest on April 1, 2014, at the age of 96.
She was born on a farm near Griswold, IA, the oldest of ten children born to George and Ruth Selders. She was the wife of a farmer for 24 years in Iowa, dedicated to her family, friends and church. She continued her adult life in California, Philadelphia and Florida, but finally lived in Colorado.
Mildred was famous for her homemade raised donuts. She was a self-taught crochet artist. She could grow anything with her "green thumb". She loved animals of all types. While living in Key West, she owned pet monkeys.
Mildred was also clever with her video recording experience, especially during the days that she kept her church service video library in Rifle.
Survivors include daughters, Betty (Bill) Raiford of Sacramento; Bobbie (Mike) Matthes of Grand Junction; sons, Richard (Joan) Cron and Skip Lloyd, both of Clifton; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen of Council Bluffs, IA, and brother, Ralph of Elliott, IA.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction.
