Kenneth Roy Wilson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ralph Roy and Wanda Robinson Wilson. He was raised in Indianapolis and graduated with a BS and MS from Purdue University. While at Purdue he met his future wife, Laura Hausenbauer. Ken and Laura settled first in Ohio, then Denver, before making their home in Grand Junction in 1982.
Ken worked for the IRS and was, above all, a family man. Always the proud and supportive dad, he could be found on the sidelines of every game, meet, or event in which his daughters participated, and as a referee on the soccer field. He loved to travel and had a passion for gardening, completing the CSU Master Gardener Program. He was a dedicated friend, always willing to lend a hand to all who needed it.
Though Ken required significant medical care in recent years, he always maintained a positive outlook and a smile. He believed he could only get better if he was an active participant, an attitude appreciated by his caregivers and therapists. All who knew Ken will remember his smile.
Ken is survived by his wife, Laura; daughters, Elizabeth (Francis) Alarie and Sarah (Carlos Cady-Reheis) Wilson; grandchildren, Melinda and Edward Roy Alarie, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Linda Ings.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Memorial contributions can be made to HopeWest Hospice.
His family would like to thank the HopeWest staff as well as his medical providers and therapists who helped him over the past five years.
