Carol Jean Pauley June 16, 1938 - March 7, 2010 Carol Jean Pauley completed her journey to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. She bravely battled ovarian cancer for ten years. She was 71. Carol was born June 16, 1938, in Denver, Colorado to Edna and Elwood Jewell. She was raised on her grandparents farm in what is now part of Highlands Ranch. She graduated from Douglas County High School, Castle Rock, Colorado, in 1956. Carol married her high school sweetheart, Larry Pauley, on September 23, 1956, in Littleton, Colorado. They had a daughter, Lori and son, Gary. Always moving west, they lived in Silverthorne, where they made many life long friends, Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction, where they have lived for 32 years. Carol worked for 25 years at Keenan-Dahl Supply in Grand Junction. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, bible studies, bunko, and her family and friends. She was a member of the Grand Junction Symphony Guild, Christian Women's Club, and the Downtown Vineyards Church. Carol was a gracious and beautiful lady, with a zest for life and an uncompromising will. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family; husband, Larry D. Pauley of Grand Junction; daughter, Lori (James) Triplett of Grand Junction; son, Gary (Kristy) Pauley of Fruita, and sister, Robbie (Frank) Christensen of Fort Collins. Her loving grandchildren are Nicole (Brian) Blanc of Colorado Springs; Michael Triplett of Grand Junction; Scott Pauley of Fruita and David Pauley of Fruita. Great grandchildren are Aden Triplett of Visalia, California; Avery Blanc of Colorado Springs, and Junalee Triplett of Grand Junction. She was preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Canyon View Vineyard Chapel, 736 24 1/2 Road, Grand Junction. Pastor Paul Watson will officiate. The family invites everyone to a lunch reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junction, CO 81506. Carol had a favorite quote on her refrigerator, "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "WOW", what a ride!" In her own, dignified, sweet way, she did just that.
