Robert "Bob" R. Winters July 8, 1935 – May 16, 2010 Robert "Bob" R. Winters passed away May 16, 2010 at home from natural causes. He was 74 years old. Bob was born on July 8, 1935 to Frank Merle and Elvera Margaret (Smith) Winters in Loma, Colorado. He graduated from Central High School and attended Mesa College. Bob was Mesa County resident for most of his life. He was a contractor, a rancher and farmer. He married Rose M. Pitts on October 6, 1977 in Las Vegas. She survives. Bob was a member of the Still Water Cowboy Church in Loma and the First Church of the Nazarene in Grand Junction. He was also a member of the Mesa County Sheriff's Pose, the Moose Lodge and Carpenter's Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, the rodeo, ranching, playing cards, family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife, Rose of Grand Junction; sons, Ben (Virginia) Winters of Fruitland, NM; Dale (Roann) Newby of Jericho Springs, MO; daughters, Karen (Francis) Katzenberger of Grand Junction; Roxie (Chris) Nielson of Loma, and Maria Bridges of St. Joseph, MO; brothers, Leroy (Carol) Winters and Eugene (Cynthia) Winters, both of Grand Junction; sisters, Nila (Richard) Johnson of Clifton; Joyce (Jim) Sines of Grand Junction; Leta (Marvin) Higginson of Grand Junction; Donna (Ron) Jackson of Loma; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Elvera Winters, and a twin sister. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 21 from 2 - 7:30 p.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary with funeral services to follow on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. also at the mortuary. Bob will be buried at Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made in Bob's honor to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B North 12th, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
