Jose Lorenzo Garcia July 26, 1943 – January 18, 2013 In the early morning of January 18, 2013, our brother, Jose "Larry" Lorenzo Garcia, age 69, left this earth to be in God's loving arms. Jose was born in Grand Junction, CO to parents, Lawrence R. Garcia and Patsy H. Garcia, he was the eldest of seven children. He attended schools in Grand Junction and worked as a chef at Cafe Caravan, Bookcliff Country Club and Ramada Inn. Jose left Grand Junction and settled in Moab, Utah, where he mined uranium and met his wife of 40 years, Jackie. He returned to Grand Junction to retire. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and reading his bible. He loved being with family and friends, especially the friends he met through his church, The Seventh Day Adventist of Palisade. Jose is survived by wife, Jackie of Moab, UT; his father, Lawrence R. Garcia, of Grand Junction; brothers, Martin Garcia of Aurora, CO, and Frank Garcia of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Jennie (Ed) Maes of Grand Junction; Donna Garcia of Palisade, CO; Nancy (Mario) Vargas of Grand Junction; Theresa (Jose) Soto of Roosevelt, UT, and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Hernandez Garcia; uncle, Cecilio Hernandez, and grandmother, who raised him, Cirila Donato Hernandez. A memorial service will be held at the Palisade Seventh Day Adventist Church, 162 East 4th Street, Palisade, CO on January 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation arrangements have been handled by Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado.
