Elaine Dienstbier Eddy September 21, 1921 – January 16, 2013 Elaine Dienstbier Eddy, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, died on January 16, 2013, following a brief illness. A long time resident of Grand Junction, Colorado, she was born September 21, 1921, to L. Lester and Bessie Dienstbier in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Omaha South High School in 1939. She married the love of her life, LaVerne Eddy, on August 22, 1942. After LaVerne was killed in an automobile accident, she enrolled in college. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Nebraska in Omaha in June of 1960. She earned her Masters Degree in Guidance Counseling from Creighton University in 1968. She was a life long learner and a 30 year cancer survivor. She enjoyed traveling the country around Grand Junction, bus trips and tending her roses. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Vasel, Tacoma, Washington, and Penny Coles, Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, LaVerne; her parents; her sister, Bessie; her nephew, Donald; her grandson, Scott, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
