Robert Eugene Chambers September 10, 1944 – April 14, 2013 Robert Eugene Chambers, beloved husband, father, uncle, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home following a courageous three year battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was 68. Bob was born on September 10, 1944, to Melvin and Bernice (Nall) Chambers in Antlers, CO. He spent his childhood in Rifle and Grand Junction, CO. Bob graduated high school from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO. He served in the United States Army from 1962 through 1966, in the 94th Engineering Battalion. He was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked as a mechanic and appliance repairman. Bob retired as a local driver from Roadway Express. Bob married Esther Moyer on March 30, 1968, in Palisade, CO. They have one daughter, Stacey Chambers of Denver, CO. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to his wife, and daughter, he is survived by his brother, Dennis Chambers, Sr., of Utah; two brothers-in-law, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks go to the Veteran's Administration and to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care for their amazing care. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 2:00 p.m., at Grand Junction First Church of the Nazarene, 2802 Patterson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the ALS Association, Rocky Mountain Chapter; Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, or to the building fund of First Church of the Nazarene.
