Donald W. Larson July 20, 1938 – March 14, 2013 Don was born in Telluride, Colorado, to J. Walter and Mildred Larson. After a brief but courageous battle with renal cell cancer and pneumonia, he passed away with his family by his side. Don spent his early childhood in California, moved back to Telluride before the end of World War II, and spent the remainder of his youth exploring the high country around Telluride. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Telluride Fire Department. He spent his early adulthood working for the Idarado Mining Company and later for Occidental Petroleum Corporation. For the past 22 years, he devoted his time to his greatest joy, raising premium horse hay on Silt Mesa. Don was an avid outdoorsman. Along with family and friends, he spent every spare moment hunting, fishing, camping and 4-wheeling. He also enjoyed watching the Denver Nuggets and the Denver Broncos. Every day was a blessing to Don and he lived his life doing exactly what he enjoyed most. Don was predeceased by his sister, Dawna O'Rourke, and step-grandson, Shawn Lancaster. He is survived by wife, Charlotte; sons, Jon and Rod; daughter, Julie (Paul) Martinez; step-son, Pat (Brenda) Flick; step-daughter, Pam (Jim) McGaugh; eight grandchildren, Sabrina, Jeff, Megan, Matt, Dylan, Brenrick, Madi and Ralen, and great-grandson, Jake.
