Deena Steinkirchner May 28, 1959 – May 1, 2013 Deena Steinkirchner, age 53, of Grand Junction, passed away on May 1, 2013, at Hospice surrounded by her family. She had been diagnosed with Liver cancer only 25 days prior. The funeral service will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Deena was born in Covina, CA to Lyndall and Carolyn Newsom on May 28, 1959. She graduated from Sahuaro High School in Tuscan, Arizona in 1977, and got her RDH at Pima Community College. She worked as a dental hygienist for The Regional Center for 27 years and retired in 2010. She enjoyed gardening, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, riding her motorcycle with her husband and playing with her "grand puppy" Svetlana. Deena is preceded in death by her parents, Lyndall and Carolyn Newsom, and two brothers, Rex and Dale Newsom. Deena is survived by her husband, Steve Steinkirchner of Grand Junction; son, Brenton Steinkirchner of Grand Junction; daughter, Briana Steinkirchner of Grand Junction; brother, Tim Newsom of Petal, Mississippi; sister, Vicki Bentley of Tampa, Florida; sister, Rene Toney of Poplarville, Mississippi; foster mother, Leanna Cumberland of Tuscan, Arizona, and brother, Ronald Heathman of Lexington, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado.
