Kevin Martz Sr. Obituary
Kevin Martz Sr., born Nov. 29, 1954, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, passed away Aug. 3, 2018 at Mid Michigan Health in Midland, Michigan after a long illness. He married Patricia Schmidt in 1975. In 1985 he married Lynn Kelch. In 1991, he married Jeanette (Jaye) Rhinehart Perry, who survives him. Kevin was a loyal friend, generous to a fault and loving family man to his extended family.
He was very proud of his award in the Midland Daily News All-Area Football Team for playing defensive lineman in Gladwin's 1972 Championship Football Team. This picture is currently displayed at the Riverwalk Grill in Gladwin. He was an avid sportsman, playing football and baseball after graduation on many area teams. He very much enjoyed coaching the Gladwin Hospital Girls Softball team and truly loved to play golf. His other hobbies were bowling, and hunting, and he was thrilled to be able to ride in #36 race car at the Las Vegas track. He loyally followed the Detroit Lions, even from California where he moved to in 1996 to take a position as Property Maintenance Manager for San Francisco Bay Area Girl Scouts where he lived at one of the 11 camps and properties.
He took oversight and maintenance from Daly City, Oakland to Lake Tahoe area in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He had worked at Ashcrafts Market for 13 years, Camp Deer Trails in Harrison for three years and running the home beef cattle farm before moving to California. He returned to Gladwin in 2009. He leaves his wife, Jaye Martz; son, Kevin Jr. (Cyndie) Martz of Lansing; stepsons, Don Conklin of Alma; Robert (Kim) Hagerty of St. Louis; stepdaughter, Deborah (Adam) Casillas of Oxnard, California; two grandchildren; six step grandchildren and one step great grandson; many nieces & nephews; two brothers and one sister. Everyone who ever knew Kevin has a favorite story and memory.
According to his wishes, he will be cremated. A Memorial get-together was held on Aug. 4 and he will be placed with his parents at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
