Edward Claus Reimers, 98, passed away peacefully with family at his side on May 16, 2014 after a long and productive life. Ed was born at home near Germantown (Artois), Calif. on August 26, 1915 to Otto and Christina Reimers. He attended the Emigrant grammar school located close to his childhood home and graduated from Orland High school in 1933. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Artois. He married Kathryn Jasper on March 31, 1942 at the Jasper home east of Orland.
Ed and his wife Kathryn along with his brother Otto and wife Ruth Jasper Reimers purchased the Graves Ranch west of Orland in 1946. He made his home on the ranch until the time of his death. Ed was a farmer and family man. At an early age he learned the value of hard work which was the foundation for how he lived his life. His honesty, integrity, and love of his family were examples to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathryn, brother Otto, and sister Nelllie Campbell.
He is survived by three daughters, Marjorie (Jerry) Palmer, Barbara (Jim) Testerman, Merry (Bob) Goings; son, Larry (Lorraine) Reimers; eight grandchildren, Eric Testerman, Keith Testerman, Todd Testerman, Travis Goings, Adam Reimers, Lynette Rhodes, Holly Ogilive, and Jake Reimers; and great-grandchildren, James, Ruby, Katharine, Kristyna, Olivia, Carter, and Reed Testerman, Keira and Katelyn Rhodes, and Harley Reimers.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary, Orland, Ca. Graveside services are at the Graves Cemetery west of Orland on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
