Our heartfelt condolences go out to the entire Lewerke family. Jon was an inspiration to me personally and I have missed him for a long time.

Jon approached life with a no fear attitude highlighted by an infectious passion for what he believed in. His inner strength was that of greatness and his zeal to live life to the fullest was coupled with a great sense of humor. He was able to combine work with laugher, but the laughter was never work. Because Jon had such a driven nature, he always seemed to be thinking and working out issues in his mind. Sleep seemed to always get the short end of the stick, so he perfected the power nap. The uncanny ability to "sleep with one eye open" so to speak, yet hear everything that is going on. He was amazing.

While Jon now sleeps, he is greatly missed and we look forward to the day when we can all be reunited once again.

My heart is broken for the family of Jon Lewerke. What an incredible loss. I had the honor of working for the Lewerke family at Woodharbor years ago and will say that the thing that sticks out in my mind the most is the love they have for each other through every trial and tribulation they would encounter working together. I was proud to be your employee and each one of you made me feel like part of your family. I will always be grateful to you for that and miss each one of you from the bottom of my heart. I think of you often and will keep you in my prayers. Jon-I hope you know how much of an impact you had on the people in your life. Maybe you didn't realize just how much it meant when you greeted that customer service girl by name who worked for you with a smile and acknowledged her presence at your company. If you didn't, you know now. It meant the world to me and you always had a hug whenever I ran into you years later. Thank you for that. Love and prayers to your family.

Jon was one of my best friend growing up and when he lived in Rockwell, he was also my cousin. We were the same age and along with our cousin Danny, had some great times together. The thrill of seeing him was unbelievable as a kid,(he had a go-cart), but also the just plain "hanging out together" will be remembered by myself and I am sure Danny, for the rest of our lives.
I loved Jon as a cousin/friend and will have great memories of us as kids.
My only regret is we grew apart as adults and my wife never knew him like I did and I do not know why.
To Curtis and Dennis and especially Ruthy, I am with you in your sorrow.
You guys came to Bud & Gert's funeral and it was noticed, Thank you!
To Jon's wife an kids, I did not know him as a man , but I knew him as a kid and he was a lot of fun to be with.
We am very sorry for your loss.

Though we've only been a part of the "Newman" community for a few years - It's no secret what a huge icon Jon Lewerke was to everyone, his family - his Newman family, his Fieldstone and Woodharbor family and the entire community. He will leave a huge "footprint" in the sand! Hold tight your wonderful memories - especially the ones that make you laugh. We are so sorry for your loss, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Jo Ellen & Family~With great sadness I send our sympathy to you and your children. It is because of Jon and yourself that you made us feel so welcome in the Fieldstone Family 30 years ago! And we always cherished those times, memories and enjoyment. As I sit and ponder the sadness I have for your family, it was Jon and the Lewerke's that taught us to not only work hard, but play hard...and that family was always a part of both. I am so saddened that I just received the email from the factory (Monday 6pm) I so would have wanted to be there to give my sympathy to each of you. Please know that we have incredible fond memories of Jon, and with much gratitude want you to know we will never forget your kindness shown to us.

Jo Ellen and Family, What words can I find to make the hurt lesson.
Kathy and I stopped by their house to stop and say Hello and see how Jon was feeling. Jon came out to the car on my side. Big Smile on his face..Wow What a Christian he was we should all be like him. God gave us a Beautiful Bed of Roses but he did not tell us how many Thorns we had to pass by in Life. Jon was high in hopes about himself. He could comfort you more then he wanted to be comforted. I did not know Jon only from living in Rockwell and through Kathy my daughter. The little I seen him I felt after seeing him that day he was a beautiful Person and much faith how ever things went. Oh, what Faith. God Bless You Jo Ellen and Your Family in this very difficult time. You had a Wonderful Husband and a Wonderful Dad and Grandpa.
