Leo Crider Obituary

GRETNA - Leo Herbert Crider, 88, of Gretna, died Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Veterans Medical Center in Salem.
Born Dec. 19, 1918, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late James Daniel Crider and Lanora Lee Creasy Crider.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, during which he was awarded the Purple Heart. In addition, he was a member of Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. and A.M., a member of the Danville Scottish Rites Bodies, and a member of American Legion Post 232.
He was a member of Mount View Christian Church, and was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Ervin Shields of Gretna; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with Masonic rites by Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. and A.M. and military honors by VFW Post 4165 and DAV Chapter 46 will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15 at Gretna Burial Park with Cecil Davis, Minister officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home; at other times they will be at the residence of his nephew and niece, Anderson and Marilyn Simpson, 1332 Azalea Drive, Gretna.
Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of arrangements.
