Mary Shelton Obituary
Mary Frances Keatts Shelton, 82, of Gretna, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, in the Gretna Health & Rehab Center.
Born Aug. 10, 1928, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late, William Herman Keatts and Annie Lee Simpson Keatts. She was predeceased by her husband, James Norman Shelton Sr.; two brothers, Pete Keatts and Bobby Keatts, and an infant son. Mrs. Shelton was a member of Gretna Christian Church and was retired from Sara Lee. She enjoyed sewing and her flower garden.
She is survived by two sons, James (Jimmie) N. Shelton Jr., of Lynch Station, and Dexter Shelton, of Gretna; a daughter, Annette Ashwell and her husband, Mike, of Gretna; a sister, Jeannette Keatts and Billy Hodges, of Gretna; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her sister, Jeannette Keatts, 2220 Blue Ridge Drive, Gretna.
