Ruth Mildred Beck Bryant

DANVILLE - Ruth Mildred Beck Bryant, 89, of Roman Eagle Memorial Home, died Monday, May 19, 2008, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.

Born Aug. 24, 1918, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Leonard Beck and Macie Eva Aaron Beck. She was married to Roy G. Bryant, who predeceased her.

Mrs. Bryant was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. She had worked in the weave room of Dan River Inc. and was a member of the Dan River Retirees Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce England and her husband, Charles, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two sons, Brian Bryant of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Barry Bryant and his wife, Brenda of Danville. She is also survived by two brothers, Chester Aaron Beck of Miami, Florida and Samuel Clay Beck and his wife, Katherine, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; two sisters, Syble Keatts of Axton and Annie Beck of Danville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Teresa Shields. She was predeceased by two brothers, Woodrow Wilson Beck and Elmo Jefferson Beck; and two sisters, Ida Elizabeth Beck and Esther Moore.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bryant will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Samuel Greeson officiating. Interment will be in Schoolfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home Chapel, 2025 North Main Street. At other times they will be at the home of Barry and Brenda Bryant, 1234 Vicar Road, Danville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to Arlington Baptist Church, 801 Kemper Road, Danville, VA 24541.
