DANVILLE, Va. - Berkley Green (B.G. or Bambi) Adkins III passed away as softly as he lived on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Duke University Medical Center.
He was born in Danville on Sept. 8, 1974, a son of Berkley Green (Bunky) Adkins Jr. and Lois Hudson Haywood, both of Danville.
A gentle soul, Bambi gave much more to the people in his life than he took. He taught us to cherish the things that matter most in life: loving and caring. Bambi's greatest gift was in bringing out the best in people who were lucky enough to have their lives touched by his life. The loving spirit he shared with us all has grown exponentially throughout the 31 years of his life, and it will continue to spread.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Berkley G. Adkins Sr. and Muriel R. Adkins; and maternal grandparents, William J. Hudson and Mae B. Hudson.
He is survived by his father, Berkley G. (Bunky) Adkins Jr. of Danville; his mother, Lois Haywood and her husband, James, of Danville; and Charles W. Hudson, Burlington, N.C., Patricia A. Hawks, South Boston, Va. and Judith A. Terry of Ringgold, Va.; and countless other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. James Albert. Following the service, family and friends will celebrate Bambi's life at his favorite restaurant, Ryan's Steak House in Danville, at 4 p.m.
The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 21, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Mount Cross Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Mount Cross Rd., Danville, VA 24540.
