CLENNIE KEATTS Obituary
Mrs. Clennie Etta Brightwell Keatts, age 92, of Pelham, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, August 4, 2011 in Morehead Memorial Hospital, Eden, NC.
Born July 1, 1919 in Draper, NC, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Bowman Brightwell and Leola Clifton Brightwell Baugh. She lived in Pittsylvania County and in the Pelham Community and retired from Dan River, Inc. Mrs. Keatts was a lifetime member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Marie Payne and her husband Julian of Dry Fork, Marilyn Staples of Durham, NC; a daughter-in-law: Bettie Keatts of Danville; a half-brother: Russell Baugh of Chatham; grandchildren: Angela Brubaker and her husband Matthew, Kimberly Agnor, Stephen Keatts and his wife Mendi, Preston Staples and Rachel; great-grandchildren: Christopher Hollowell, Nicholas Jones and his wife Katie, Tabitha Brubaker, Emilee Agnor, Carrie Agnor, Fayth Keatts, Stephen Keatts, Jr. step-great-grandchildren: Matthew Agnor and Lain Diehl.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sons: Stephen Edward Keatts and Burton E. Keatts, Jr.; one sister: Ellie Wright; a granddaughter, Wanda Jones, a great-grandson, Timothy Jones, half-brother Robert Baugh, half-sisters Oleta Ramsey and Lou Annie Ramsey; her former husband, Burton E. Keatts, Sr.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Lee Eggers will be held Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Swicegood Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.
Mrs. Keatts loved flowers, and they are welcomed by the family; however, should you prefer, donations may be made to the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Pelham, NC.

Grandson Stephen and wife Mendi spoke so fondly of his Granny and kept us updated on her recent hospitalization while we were in the Dakotas recently on a mission trip. Stephen has been blessed to have a wonderful family and therefore is all the more saddened when one like his Granny leaves us here for a time. I look forward to meeting her... My thoughts and prayers are with you on the loss of your loved one, mother, grandmother, sister, etc. I remember Mrs. Keatts so well when I was just a little girl and she and her family were our neighbors on Longview Avenue in Danville. May God bless you and comfort you in your time of sorrow.
