Emyl Jenkins gave me a chance to write and encouraged me to cover the High Point furniture market. Later my job was in ad sales for Evince Magazine. I loved working for her and with Editor Joyce Wilburn. Emyl was an extraordinary, exuberant person and always willing to advise writers. She knew intuitively how to fix awkward wording. I bought both of her first Sterling Glass mysteries and was eagerly awaiting another. My condolences to her children, grandchildren, and husband Bob. It's hard to imagine her no longer here.

I'm so sorry to hear that we have lost Emyl and her many talents. Our mothers were friends and I have a special signed copy of From Storebought to Homemade on my kitchen counter. My favorite recipes are there. What a charming lady Emyl was! Judy Brown Smith, Forest, VA

I met Emyl in the mid-1960s at St. Anne's and was struck by her grace and intelligence then. That impression deepened as I got to know her in later years. I offer my condolences to her family and all who loved her. May she rest in peace and rise in glory!
