Lillian "Lil" Vernon Gammon

Lillian "Lil" Vernon Gammon, 91 of 1371 Pumpkin Creek Lane, Danville, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Danville Regional Medical Center. She was born April 15, 1920 in Halifax County, VA to the late Troge Lee Vernon and the late Glinnie Mise. Mrs. Gammon was married to the late Andrew Jackson Gammon. She retired from Dan River Mills following 46 years of service. She was a member of Gatewood Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son-in-law; Harold Camp of South Boston, VA, one brother; John Vernon of Halifax County, one sister; Evelyn McDowell of South Boston, VA, two grandchildren; Jay Camp and wife Cynthia, and Andrea Sizemore and husband Mike of South Boston, VA, three great-grandchildren; Christopher Sizemore, Allyson Sizemore and Jessica Camp Snead and husband Jason, two great-great-grandchildren; Maggie Snead and A.J. Snead, a loving second daughter; Vicky West of Danville, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by one daughter; Barbara "Bobbie" Camp, one brother; Alvin Vernon, and two sisters; Sara Solomon and Margaret Slayton.

Funeral services will be held graveside at Danville Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2011 with the Rev. John Gentry and Rev. Duane Blevins officiating.

The family will receive friends 1:00 - 2:30 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Norris Funeral services, West End Chapel and at other times at the residence 1371 Pumpkin Creek Drive, Danville.
