Stephen Noel Adkins
Mr. Stephen Noel Adkins, age 57 of 3174 Hackberry Road, Sutherlin, Va., died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Danville Regional Medical Center after an illness since October 2012. Mr. Adkins was born on January 13, 1956 in Danville, a son of the late James Noel Adkins and Betty Pettigo Adkins, who survives. Mr. Adkins was employed by Blue Ridge Fiberboard as a fork truck operator. He attended Kerns Memorial United Methodist Church. On June 21, 2008, he was married to Edith Warren Jones, who survives. In addition to his mother of Danville and his wife of the residence, he is survived by one son, Lewis Adkins and friend, Tamar of Danville, one grandson, Luke Adkins of Danville, one sister, Cathy Haynes and husband, Melvin of Pelham, N.C., one niece, Elizabeth Haynes, one nephew, Ethan Haynes both of Pelham, N.C., two stepsons, Brandon Jones and wife, Skyla of Haw River, N.C., Chris Jones and friend, Samantha of Danville, one step grandson, Brycen Jones of Haw River, N.C. and one step granddaughter, Alayna Jones of Danville. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday,January 20, 2013 from Kerns Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Tim Satterfield officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service and other times the family will be at the residence of Deborah Crenshaw, 3169 Hackberry Road, Sutherlin and at the residence of his son, Lewis Adkins, 2914 Finch Drive, Danville. The family suggest that memorial donations be made to Kerns Memorial United Methodist Church, 3172 Hackberry Road, Sutherlin, Va. 24594.
